Klaas and son, Ben Salverda, specialize in traditional baking, providing products not easily found in an era where the traditional scratch bakery has become a rarity. Klaas and Ben offer a wide variety of items, many based on recipes passed down by Klaas' father, Bauke, also a baker.
Traditional dutch baking is a strong passion for Klaas and Ben, and keeping the tradition of this style of baking is a source of pride for the Salverda family. A wide variety of Dutch items cover the shelves, such as Gevulde Koeken, a selection of Gebakjes, Boterkoek, Suiker Brood, Mocha and Vanilla Taart (Cakes), and much more. Our almond paste (used in much dutch baking) and marzipan are all made on site, and contain no fillers - only almonds!
Klaas and Ben also feature English and Scottish style baking such as Eccle Cakes, Ground Beef Meat Pies, Fern Tarts, and Raisin Squares. Pastry is made from scratch with no additives or stabilizers - just like how Grandma made the pastry! Our White and Chocolate Birthday Cakes are widely known for their traditional icing, made on-site, using real ingredients, to produce an icing that is fluffy and light, with a pleasing sweetness.
Another product BBP is proud to offer are old-fashioned doughnuts made from a recipe older than the establishment itself. Doughnuts are mixed, fried, and finished on site, and are an essential item you won't want to forget to bring home!
